The CQC are currently focusing on good leadership and governance in terms of medicines optimisation within adult social care. It is fundamental in getting medicines right.

As recommended by NICE, staff supporting people to take their medicines should be appropriately trained and competent to carry out this task with an annual review of knowledge, skills and competency.
