Pharmacy participation as part of your multi-disciplinary team is essential to ensure the best support for patients and clinicians alike. Our clinical pharmacists are trained to contribute to the decision-making process utilising their specialist skills and expertise.
Importantly, a pharmacist’s viewpoint is independent; their main objective being to ensure the safe and effective use of drug regimens. Our pharmacists will actively participate in discussions about current treatment and next steps. They can suggest changes to current treatment, advise on drug switches, research drug a patient’s drug history or comment on a proposed treatment regime.
Pharmacists always base their recommendations on established evidence and experience; this places them in a unique position to discuss clinical scenarios, hypothetically or otherwise, whilst also supporting fellow professionals to manage the complex needs of our patients.
